
AHL players featured in 2008-09 Heroes & Prospects trading card set

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that the AHL is prominently featured in the 2008-09 Heroes & Prospects trading card set, manufactured by In The Game, Inc.
The set, which pays tribute to the past while celebrating hockey's future, was released today and can be purchased in the official on-line store of the AHL, ahlstore.com.
The 100-card base set features many of the most promising young stars in the AHL today, including Rob Schremp, Michael Grabner, Darren Helm, Mike Santorelli, Teddy Purcell, Jack Skille, Jiri Tlusty, Cody Franson and Brian Lee.
There is also a 13-card Calder Cup Champions insert set, commemorating the 2008 AHL champion Chicago Wolves and including players such as Jason Krog, Darren Haydar, Brett Sterling, Nathan Oystrick, Bryan Little, Boris Valabik and Ondrej Pavelec.
The Heroes and Prospects set also includes over 90 different autograph cards as well as game-used memorabilia cards.
In operation since 1936, the AHL continues to serve as the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 82 percent of today's NHL players are American Hockey League graduates, and more than 6 million fans have attended AHL games across North America in each of the past seven seasons.
