Jonas Junland Recalled By Blues

St. Louis, Mo. (December 17, 2008) - St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the club has recalled defenseman Jonas Junland from the Blues' American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen. St. Louis defenseman Jay McKee has a fractured left ring finger and will be sidelined indefinitely. McKee was injured in the third period on Tuesday, Dec. 16 vs. Calgary.

Junland, 21, has played in 21 games this season with the Rivermen, registering 13 points (six goals, seven assists) along with 12 penalty minutes. The 6-2, 190-pound defenseman skated in 52 games with Linkoping of the Swedish Elite League last season, collecting 20 points (three goals, 17 assists) along with 42 penalty minutes.

The Linkoping, Sweden native was originally drafted by the Blues in the third round, 64th overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

The Rivermen will be back at Carver Arena on December 19 to take on the Iowa Chops at 7:00 p.m. It is WWE Legends Night as Jerry "The King" Lawler, "Hacksaw" Jim Dugan and Koko B.
