Adirondack Phantoms News Release

PHILADELPHIA - Nate Raduns tipped home a point shot from Sean Curry 1:28 into overtime to give the Philadelphia Phantoms a 3-2 win over the Binghamton Senators at the Wachovia Spectrum on Wednesday night. The win was Philadelphia's sixth in a row and pulls the club within three points of idle Bridgeport for second place in the East Division.

The Phantoms jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period, opening the scoring 11:07 into the contest. Philadelphia gained the Binghamton zone with a series of pretty passes that saw Jared Ross feed one to the left circle for newly-assigned defenseman Randy Jones, down on a conditioning loan from the Flyers. Jones quickly found Claude Giroux crashing the right post, and sent a cross that Giroux tipped past Binghamton goaltender Brian Elliott to make it 1-0.

The 2-0 lead came on a scramble in front of the net after Elliott fought off a Nate Guenin shot from the right point. Elliott and the Senators could neither freeze nor clear the puck before Josh Gratton poked it home to give the Phantoms a 2-0 lead after the first period.

But Binghamton came back to tie the game with two second period goals. The first came near the halfway point when Danny Bois stepped in front of a pass while the Phantoms were on a power play. He skated in on a breakaway and beat Phantoms goaltender Michael Teslak to make it a 2-1 game.

Then with just over 22 seconds left in the period, the Senators tied it with a late power play goal. Josh Hennessy deflected a Ryan Shannon shot past Teslak, tying the game at the second intermission.

After a scoreless third, the Phantoms struck just over 90 seconds into the extra session. Jonathon Kalinski won a faceoff in the right-side circle of the Binghamton zone back to Sean Curry on the point. Curry fired a shot that Raduns re-directed between Elliott's pads to end the evening.

Teslak made his first start of the season for the Phantoms and earned the win with 32 saves on 34 Binghamton shots. Elliott absorbed the loss with 21 saves on 24 Philadelphia bids. The Phantosm were 0-for-5 on the power play, while the Senators were 1-for-4. Jones played his first game for the Phantoms since the 2005-06 season in preparation for his return to the Flyers.
