MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have recalled goaltender Jeff Zatkoff from the ECHL's Ontario Reign and released goaltender Jonathan Boutin from his professional tryout agreement, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.
Zatkoff, 21, joins the Monarchs for Wednesday's game against the Manitoba Moose from the Reign where he has a record of 8-6-1, a 2.31 goals-against-average and a .934 save-percentage in 16 games this season. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound native of Detroit, Michigan, played three seasons at Miami University (Ohio). From 2005-08, Zatkoff compiled a 55-21-5 record, a 1.96 goals-against-average and a .927 save-percentage in 82 career games with the Redhawks. Selected by the Kings in the third round (74th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Zatkoff will wear No. 37 for the Monarchs.
Boutin, 23, joined the Monarchs from the Moose where he played in one game on December 5 against the San Antonio Rampage and stopped 24-of-28 shots in the loss. He served as the back-up goaltender to netminder Jonathan Bernier in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Moose. Boutin has also played in 11 games with the ECHL's Victoria Salmon Kings and has earned a record of 6-3-2, a 2.64 goals-against-average and a .909 save-percentage this season. The 6-foot-2, 206-pound native of Granby, Quebec, split the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons between the AHL's Springfield Falcons and the ECHL's Johnstown Chiefs, and played for the AHL's Norfolk Admirals during the 2007-08 season. Boutin has an AHL career total of 98 games with a 30-48-6 record, a 3.26 goals-against-average and a 0.899 save-percentage.
