Gwinnett Stripers News Release

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Brice Turang belted a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning, sending the Nashville Sounds (35-31) to a 5-3 win over the Gwinnett Stripers (29-38) on Friday night at First Horizon Park. Gwinnett has lost five straight contests, including four straight in Nashville.

Decisive Plays: Gwinnett held a lead for the first time in the series as Forrest Wall laced an RBI triple in the third inning and Joe Dunand lifted an opposite-field solo home run (9) to right field in the fourth. The 2-0 advantage was short-lived as the Sounds scratched out runs against Michael Soroka in the fourth and sixth innings. Tied at 2-2 in the 10th, pinch runner Justin Dean scored for a 3-2 lead as Wall legged out a bunt single and Nashville pitcher Ethan Small threw the ball away for an error. In the bottom of the 10th, Sal Frelick tied the game with an RBI single and Turang followed with the two-run homer (3) off Beau Burrows (L, 2-2).

Key Contributors: Wall went 2-for-4 with his team-leading fifth triple, one RBI, and 40th stolen base of the year. Dunand went 1-for-4 with his ninth homer, tying Eli White for the team lead. Soroka turned in a quality start in a no-decision, working 6.0 innings with three hits, two runs (one earned), four walks, and three strikeouts. Turang went 1-for-4 with the homer and two RBIs for Nashville.

Noteworthy: Wall is just the second player in Gwinnett history with 40 steals in a season, joining Luis Durango (club-record 46 steals in 2012). Dunand has six homers in 12 games in June, batting .370 with a 1.257 OPS. Soroka has tossed three straight quality starts for the Stripers, going 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA and .131 BAA in that stretch.
