Indianapolis Indians News Release
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Carter Bins launched his third Triple-A home run of the season, but a three-run fourth inning by the Gwinnett Stripers handed the Indianapolis Indians an 8-2 loss in the first game of a six-game set on Tuesday night.
With the Indians (30-29) leading 2-0 after a two-run spot in the third - highlighted by Bins' solo homer and a run-scoring throwing error on a Jared Oliva steal of second base - the Stripers (30-31) scored one run in the third and three in the fourth to take a lead they would not relinquish. An RBI single by Kramer Robertson scored the first run, and back-to-back singles by Chadwick Tromp and Ryan Goins took the lead in the fourth.
A four-run spot in the seventh inning extended Gwinnett's lead to the final of 8-2.
Miguel Yajure got the start for Indy and surrendered one unearned run in 3.0 innings. Entering in relief was Joe Jacques (L, 0-1) who - in his first outing back from being reinstated from the 60-day injured list - was charged with three runs in 0.2 innings.
Kyle Muller (W, 4-3) went 7.0 innings and surrendered two runs (one earned) with 11 strikeouts. The Indians were handed no walks with 14 total strikeouts in the contest.
Bligh Madris led the Indians offense with two of the team's five hits, extending his on-base streak to 21 consecutive games.
Indianapolis and Gwinnett will face off again tomorrow night at 7:05 PM ET at Coolray Field. RHP Cody Bolton (1-1, 3.22) will take the mound for Indy against RHP Nolan Kingham (1-0, 2.65)
