
Knights Drop Tuesday's Opener to 'Shrimp 9-3

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- Right fielder Micker Adolfo launched his sixth home run of the season, but the Charlotte Knights dropped the opening game of a six-game series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp by a score of 9-3 on Tuesday night at Truist Field.Adolfo's two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning provided the Knights with a 2-0 lead over the Jumbo Shrimp.
In the top of the fifth inning, the Jumbo Shrimp cut the lead in half as the club scored its first run of the night on an RBI double by Santiago Chavez. In the bottom of the fifth, the Knights added a third run to take a 3-1 lead thanks to a sacrifice-fly RBI off the bat of left fielder Adam Haseley. It proved to be Charlotte's final run of the game.
The Jumbo Shrimp began to pull away from the Knights in the top of the sixth thanks to a four-run inning. First baseman Lewin Díaz launched a two-run home run in the sixth inning. Jacksonville added four more runs combined over the final three innings of the ballgame en-route to the game one win. Second baseman Bryson Brigman added a solo home run in the ninth inning for the Jumbo Shrimp.
Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson started a rehab assignment with the Knights on Tuesday. Anderson, who is currently on Chicago's 10-day injured list with a strained right groin, went 2-for-4 on the night.
RHPJ.B. Olson, who started Sunday's game in Louisville, returned to start Tuesday's game in Uptown Charlotte. Olson struck-out three batters over two shutout innings on Tuesday. In all, the Knights used seven pitchers on the evening.
RHP Will Carter (3-3, 5.63) was saddled with the loss after he allowed three walks, one hit and two runs (one earned) over 0.1 innings pitched.
The Knights will continue the six-game-series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins) from Truist Field on Wednesday night.
