South Carolina Stingrays News Release
The Stingrays continued their season-high 6-game road trip last weekend with games against the Gwinnett Gladiators and Columbia Inferno. The team ended the weekend with a 1-1-0 record.
On Friday night, the Rays traveled to Duluth, Georgia to play the Gladiators. Cail MacLean and Matt Stefanishion each scored a goal in the 6-2 loss. Jorge Alves saw his first action this season when he played seven minutes stopping all three shots he faced. The Stingrays next face Gwinnett later this month on Saturday, Feb. 24th again in Duluth.
Saturday night the Stingrays were in Columbia to face the Inferno. For the third game in a row, the Stingrays struck first with a Cam McCaffrey goal just 1:37 into the first period. Matt Reid scored his team-leading 19th goal of the season in the second and Stephen Werner scored the game-winning goal in the final minute of regulation to lead the Stingrays to a 4-3 victory. The Rays are 8-2 against the Inferno this season and play them one more time next month at the North Charleston Coliseum.
Team News:
The Stingrays are 22-17-3 for 51 points. The Rays are in sixth place in the division with only eight points separating them from first place.
The Stingrays are tied for 7th place in the conference and 11th in the league.
The Rays are 6-3-1 in their last ten games and currently have a one-game winning streak as they head into the games against Charlotte, Dayton, and Texas.
Daren Machesney was recalled to the Washington Capitals last week where he has been the back-up goaltender to Olie Kolzig.
Donny Grover was recalled to the Hershey Bears last week. He has played in two games with the Bears without recording a point.
The Stingrays signed rookie defensemen Jeff Moor last week. Moor had been playing with the Columbus Cottonmouths of the SPHL.
The Stingrays rank 2nd at home on the power play converting 23.2% of the time, but are 23rd on the road only converting 11.2%. Overall, the Rays are 7th with a 17.5%.
For the penalty kill, the Stingrays are 22nd at home with 81.1%, 6th on the road with 85.9% and 13th overall with 83.6%
Nate Kiser has 151 penalty minutes and is third among defensemen.
Cam McCaffrey's six short-handed points places him second in the league, just one shy of leader Wes Goldie from Victoria.
Davis Parley ranks first in wins with 22 and saves (1160), is second in minutes (2263), and first in overtime wins (5).

Ladies Night
Ladies night returns on Friday Feb 16 when the Rays play Charlotte at 7:05 pm. This year's Pink in the Rink theme will feature a myriad of events happening before and during the game. A Bridal Show, sponsored by Carlson Wagonlit, will be open in the North Meeting Room from 5:30 - end of the game. A vendor village on the concourse will feature area non-profit and retail organizations with a focus on women's interest. A few tables are still available for $150. The Rays will be wearing Pink Jerseys that evening with a silent auction to benefit the American Cancer Society. A "Pink Package" is available for purchase at a cost of $25 - includes 1 Ticket to the game, 1 Pink in the Rink T-shirt, and admission to Hockey 101 for women at 4:00. Military Night
Local branches of our armed services will be honored on Saturday Feb 17 as the Stingrays present their annual Military Appreciation Night. As always, all active and retired members of the armed services will have the ability to purchase discounted tickets at the North Charleston Coliseum box office on or before the game. Upper Level tickets are $8.00, Lower Level tickets are $11.50, and Glass seats are $14.50.
The culmination of the Military Cup Series will happen at 2:00 pm on the 17th before the Stingrays game when the Air Force Hockey Team battles the Navy Hockey Team. A ticket for the Stingrays game will get you into the Military game. Tug of War between local military branches will be part of the featured entertainment during the intermissions.

Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons will appear on Low Country Live on Tuesday morning. Low Country Live airs on ABC News 4 at 10 a.m. with Ryan Nelson and Justin Lock.
Jeff Moor, Davis Parley, and Evan Schwabe will be at the Trident Medical Center in Summerville from 12:30 until 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon along with Cool Ray.
Peter Szabo, Matt Reid, and Matt Stefanishion will be at the Trident Medical Center off Medical Plaza Dr. on Wednesday afternoon from 12:30 until 2:30 p.m.

It's Faith and Fun Night at the Coliseum with a special 5 p.m. start time and free post-game concert with Big Daddy Weave. This is the first meeting between the Bombers and South Carolina. The Rays are 2-1-1 overall against Dayton and are 1-0-0 this season against teams from the North Division.

The Wildcatters come to town for a Sunday afternoon match-up. The Stingrays won two out of three in Beaumont late last month and are looking to improve upon their 2-3-0 record against the 'Catters. It's Kid's Day at the Coliseum with a post-game Skate with the Rays. It's also the first of the Dog Days of Winter where dogs are welcome at the Coliseum. The Dog Days of Winter will be every Sunday in February.
