Dayton Bombers News Release
BOMBERS NOTES
*Hard Working Man! Bombers forward Justin Maiser recorded his first career hat trick and had a four point game overall in the Bombers 6-3 victory over the Wheeling Nailers on Friday night. Maiser scored a power play goal in front of the net, a short handed goal from behind the net (on a wraparound) and an even strength goal right in front of the Wheeling crease.
*Tifu Goes Streaking Again! Leading scorer Yannick Tifu is currently in the midst of his second five game points streak of the season. Tifu has recorded seven points (3 G, 4 A) during the streak. He had another five game points streak earlier in the season from 12/28/06-1/06/07.
*On The Road Again! The Bombers will now head to Wheeling, Columbia and South Carolina on this week's three game road trip. Entering the week, they had already played more road games (20) than home games (19). The Bombers lead the North Division in road victories with 11 (11-7-2).
*Leading The Way On The Power Play! Captain Greg Labenski leads the team with 16 points on the power play (1 G, 15 A). Labenski also leads the team in +/- this season with +12. The Bombers are 16-3-4 when scoring a power play goal this season.
* Bombs Away! The Bombers have out shot their opponents in 32 of the 39 games played so far. They continue to lead the ECHL in least shots against, only allowing 25.82 per game.
LOOK OUT BELOW
* Lets Get Lost In The Shuffle! Only six points separate the Bombers (46 pts.) from the top spot (Cincinnati 52 pts.) in the North Division and only 14 points separate the division from top to bottom. The Bombers are currently in fourth place but only one point out of third place(Toledo 47 pts.) and three points out of second (Trenton 49 pts.). With a Bombers victory and a Storm defeat in regulation, the Bombers would move right into third place tomorrow night and Toledo would drop to fourth. Not to be forgotten are the Reading Royals (44 pts.) who are on the heals of everyone above them in fifth place, only two points behind the Bombers and three points in back of Toledo.
IMPORTANT WEEK AHEAD! Dayton returns to the ice tomorrow night, as they take on the Wheeling Nailers at WesBanco Arena at 7:00 p.m. Then on Friday, the Bombers will head down South to take on the Columbia Inferno. Friday's game will be available locally on radio on AM 980 WONE the Sports Animal. The broadcast will begin at 6:45 p.m. with the pregame show, followed by the opening face off at 7:00 p.m. The Bombers conclude their three game road trip with a visit to the home of the South Carolina Stingrays at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
