
Stingrays Weekly: Stingrays Ring in the New Year with 2x2 Tuesday, Family Friday and Darius Rucker N

South Carolina Stingrays News Release
The South Carolina Stingrays visited the Gwinnett Gladiators and Greenville Road Warriors and hosted the Wheeling Nailers in a post-Holiday three-game in three-day set last week for a week record of 2-1-0-0.
The Stingrays wrapped up the Holiday break and a three-game series against the Gladiators Thursday night at The Arena at Gwinnett Center, falling 3-2. Forwards Lindsay Sparks and Paul Rodrigues netted goals and goaltender David LeNeveu suffered the loss making 26 saves.
On Friday, the Stingrays snapped the Road Warriors' four-game winning streak with a 3-2 victory at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. Goaltender Jeff Jakaitis turned in a 40-save performance, forward Peter Boyd netted a goal and an assist and Rodrigues pitched in two assists.
The week wrapped up Saturday evening at the North Charleston Coliseum on Holiday Holdover Troops Night presented by the USO and Verizon . In front of over 300 troops from Fort Jackson, the Stingrays defeated the Wheeling Nailers 3-0 behind two-point games from forward Igor Gongalsky (two assists) and defenseman Ryan Grimshaw (one goal, one assist) and 21 saves from Jakaitis, earning his second shutout of the season.

Taking the Lead
The Stingrays are first in the South Division, first in the Eastern Conference and first overall in the ECHL with 45 points (21-5-1-2).
Goaltender Jeff Jakaitis stands on top of the ECHL with a 1.63 goals-against average and .940 save percentage, second with 16 wins and third in minutes played (1214). Jakaitis is on an eight-game personal winning streak and is unbeaten in his last 10 appearances (9-0-0-1).
Forward Peter Boyd is currently riding a six-game point streak with two goals and seven assists.
Forward Chad Painchaud, who is currently on loan to the American Hockey League's (AHL) Norfolk Admirals, is tied for 20 in the ECHL with 24 points (9 goals, 15 assists).
Forward Marc Hagel is 15 among ECHL rookies with 17 points (9 goals, 8 assists) and is tied for first among first-year players, including Stingrays forward Lindsay Sparks, with three game-winning tallies. Hagel is also tied fir second among rookies with four power-play goals. Sparks is currently on a four-game point streak with three goals and one assist.
Defenseman Steve Spinell, who is currently recalled to Providence (AHL), is first among defenseman and second among rookies with 20 minor penalties.
Defenseman Jeremy Price is fourth among rookies with a plus-minus rating of +12.
