Forward Dustin Gazley and Goaltender Riley Gill Recalled

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that, in separate transactions, forward Dustin Gazley and goaltender Riley Gill have been recalled to the Bears from the Royals. In other transactions announced today, (i) defenseman Brett Flemming was reassigned by the Capitals from the Bears to the Royals; and (ii) forward Doug Clarkson was recalled from the Royals by the Adirondack Phantoms of the AHL.

This is the first call-up of the season to Hershey for Gazley, a third year pro from Novi, Michigan. He has recorded eighteen points (8g-10a) in twenty-five games with the Royals this season. Last year, Gazley played twenty-nine games with the Binghamton Senators of the AHL (4g-5a). For Gill, a fourth year pro from Northfield, Minnesota, this is his second stint in Hershey. He was recalled to the Bears on November 30 and remained with the Bears until December 12. He did not appear in any games for Hershey during that initial AHL stint. In sixteen appearances with Reading this year, Gill has compiled a 10-6-0-0 record with a 2.23 goals against average and a .922 save percentage.

Flemming, a third year pro who was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, started the season with Reading and was reassigned to Hershey by the Capitals on December 5. He played three games with the Bears during this most recent stint in the AHL and recorded one assist and two penalty minutes. In sixteen games with Reading this year, Flemming has four points (1g-3a) and nine penalty minutes.

Clarkson, a second year pro from Mimico, Ontario, was loaned by the Phantoms to the Royals on December 13. He played four games for Reading and scored one goal, which proved to be the game winner in the Royals' 6-2 win in Elmira on Thursday, December 26. He has played one game with Adirondack this year without registering any points or penalty minutes.

The Royals return to action on tomorrow on New Year's Eve (Tuesday, December 31 @ 6:00 pm) when the team will travel to WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia to take on the Wheeling Nailers. The game night broadcast on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 will kick off with the Highmark Blue Shield Warm-Up Show at 5:30 pm on the Royals Broadcast Network . As with all Royals' road games, Tuesday's matchup will be televised locally in Berks County, Pennsylvania on BCTV courtesy of Boscov's Travel and Apple Vacations.
