Recap of the Week

The Road Warriors posted another successful weekend, collecting four of six possible points last week.

The weekend began with a hard-fought game that ended with a tough 3-2 loss against the ECHL's top team, the South Carolina Stingrays. Jordie Johnston scored an unassisted power-play goal and Justin Vaive scored his sixth goal of the year. Goaltender Connor Knapp's two-game win streak was broken in the loss.

The Road Warriors returned to the win column on Saturday with a 4-2 victory over the Elmira Jackals. Andrew Rowe, Mike Marcou, Jordie Johnston and Josh Nicholls all scored enroute to the victory. The Warriors tallied on the power play and on a successful penalty shot by Nicholls. Scott Stajcer made 34 saves to improve to a 4-3-0 record on the season.

On Sunday, the Road Warriors finished the weekend with another win over the Jackals. Greenville scored four goals in the second period; the most the team has scored in any single period this season, to post a 6-3 win. Defenseman Brad Cole began the scoring in the first period with his second goal of the year. Marc-Olivier Vallerand, Mike Marcou, Justin Vaive, and Josh Nicholls all scored in the second period to propel the Warriors to a 5-3 lead heading into the third period. Vaive potted another goal in the third to extendhis point streak to nine games. Andrew Rowe and Michael St. Croix tallied three assists a piece in the game. Connor Knapp posted 38 saves for the Road Warriors and earned win.

Week Ahead

The Road Warriors begin 2014 with a Friday night game against the Florida Everblades at 7 p.m. Greenville played Florida twice before the Christmas break winning both games. The Road Warriors outscored the Everblades 12-5 in the pair of games played in Estero, Florida. The ABC Party Rentals' Warriors Fan Fest begins at 5 p.m.! Fans can get three mini Italian meatball subs for $5. Fans can also enjoy 2 for 1 domestic beers and Mike's Hard Lemonade The ABC Party Rentals' Warrior Fan Fest will take place on the Plaza until 7 p.m.

The weekend concludes with a 7 p.m. game on Saturday against the South Carolina Stingrays in North Charleston. The Road Warriors are 2-5-0 against the Stingrays this season but have earned wins in two of the past three contests against their intrastate rivals.

Streaks and Stats

Justin Vaive is in the midst of a nine-game point streak with eight goals and seven assists.

Andrew Rowe played in his 200th professional game on Saturday night.

Greenville has won seven of its last eight games.

Brayden Irwin is in the midst of a five-game assist streak.

Goaltender Scott Stajcer has won three consecutive games.

Mike Marcou has scored five points in the past five games.

Transactions

The Road Warriors saw three players called up to the Hartford Wolf Pack last week. All three players were defensemen. Samuel Noreau, Sam Klassen and Charlie Dodero were summoned to the Greenville Road Warriors' AHL Affiliate.

During the course of the week the week, the Road Warriors signed defensemen Paul Arnott and Tyler Hinds.
