North Charleston, SC - The Stingrays scored the first two goals of the game and held off the Solar Bears as South Carolina collected a 2-1 win at the North Charleston Coliseum on Saturday night.

For the second straight game, the Solar Goals surrendered the first goal early in the contest. A few quick passes helped set up F Igor Gongalski who snapped a point blank chance into the net at 6:25 to give the Stingrays a 1-0 advantage. It would stand as the lone first period goal.

The Stingrays struck for the only goal of the second period as well. F Parker Stanfield threaded a perfect pass to spring F Lindsay Sparks in all alone, and he fired a wrister into the top corner of the net to put South Carolina ahead 2-0 at 10:55 of the second.

A power play early in the third helped the Solar Bears cut the lead in half. F Mike Ullrich spun a puck in front of the net and F Francis Verreault-Paul was able to find the rebound, knocking the puck past G Jeff Jakaitis 1:51 into the third to bring Orlando to within one. It was as close as the Solar Bears would get, as Orlando fell by the final 2-1 score to the Stingrays.
