Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- For the first-time this season, the Kalamazoo Wings have dropped back-to-back games at Wings Stadium. The K-Wings ended their brief two-game home stand with a 4-1 loss to the Fort Wayne Komets.
Capitalizing on the lone power-play chance of the first period, Mike Embach (7th) netted a wrister from the left circle. Embach, who was making his Komets debut after being traded to Fort Wayne earlier in the week from the Gwinnett Gladiators, scored on his first shot as a Komet.
The power-play goal was the first surrendered by the K-Wings in 11 attempts. The last player to score a man-advantage goal against Kalamazoo was Embach back on December 6th when he played for Gwinnett. Three of Embach's seven goals this season have come against Kalamazoo.
Kaleigh Schrock (2nd) extended the Komets lead midway in the second period pushing an Embach rebound over the goal line.
Fort Wayne put the game out of reach in the third period with a power-play goal from Brandon Marino (10th).
Earning the K-Wings lone goal 13:22 into the third period was David Pacan. Finding space between the circles, Pacan notched his fourth tally of the season with a wrist shot.
The Komets closed out the scoring with less than a minute remaining with an empty-netter from Chris Auger (10th).
Kalamazoo will travel to the US Bank Arena on Tuesday, December 17th for a 7:35 p.m. encounter against the Cincinnati Cyclones.
The K-Wings will return home on Friday, December 20th for a 7:30 p.m. face-off versus the Toledo Walleye during Bell's Winter White Blue Ice Weekend featuring the inaugural Blue Ice Game and an appearance from former Detroit Red Wings great Darren McCarty.
A four-time Stanley Cup winner (1997, 1998, 2002 and 2008) with the Red Wings, McCarty will be signing autographs and meeting with fans starting at 6:30 p.m. on December 20th.
