BOISE, Idaho - David Eddy's two shorthanded goals paced the Alaska Aces (13-7-1, 27 points) offense, who fell in overtime, 4-3 to the Idaho Steelheads before 3,917 fans at CenturyLink Arena on Friday.

The Aces, who forced overtime on the strength of Alex Kangas' 22 saves, moved to 2-4-1 on the eight game road trip and outshot the Steelheads 38-26. Justin Mercier earned the game winning goal in overtime at the 37 second mark for their fourth win in five games.

Peter Sivak opened the scoring on a power play goal at 10:37 of the first period by setting a screen at front of the net and getting a piece of Mathew Sisca's shot from the point. Anthony Nigro leveled the game at 14:21 by finishing a feed between the circles to help Idaho answer with a power play marker.

In the second period, the Aces seized command when they earned shorthanded goals on two separate breaks. Eddy stashed his first goal of the night just 23 seconds into the second period for a 2-1 lead, when he finished Nick Mazzolini's pass to the goal mouth on a two-on-one rush.

Tommy Grant answered at 12:48 when he buried a one-timer from the right circle on Nigro's cross-ice pass for a 2-2 game. Then with Idaho maneuvering the puck to the line late in the period, Eddy's strip of Patrick Cullity at the center point produced a breakaway, forehand deke to Josh Robinson's glove and 3-2 lead for his second shorthanded goal of the night.

In the third period, Eddy threatened with a one-timer from the slot, set up by Mazzolini, for an insurance hat trick goal but Robinson made the stop to keep Idaho within striking distance. Dan DeLisle tied the game at 12:33 when he converted Mitchell Good's pass from between the circles, off the rush for his first career ECHL goal.

Mercier's ninth goal of the year finished the game when he stashed a backhander under the crossbar, off Bret Robinson's feed from behind the net.

Josh Robinson took the win with 35 saves.
