The Week Ahead:

Tuesday, March 30, 2004 Vs Augusta– 7:05 @ North Charleston Coliseum

Radio: CNN Radio 1450 & Stingrayshockey.com. Air Time: 6:35

Augusta has a record of 3-0-2 this season against the Stingrays. The Lynx won 5-0 the last time these two teams met at the Coliseum on March 9. The Stingrays have won both games this season against the Lynx in overtime with Kevin Spiewak scoring both game winners.

At The Coliseum: Two for Tuesday. Two for one upper level one tickets, two for one hot dogs and cokes and two dollar beers.

Thursday, April 1, 2004 @ Greenville 7:05 @ Bi Lo Center

This is the last road game of the season for the Stingrays. South Carolina has a record of 5-0 this season against the Grrrowl. Greenville is in last place in the Southern Division with 51 losses.

Friday, April 2, 2004 Vs Columbia 7:30 @ North Charleston Coliseum

This is the rematch of a physical game last Friday night. Columbia has enjoyed a record of 4-1 this season against the Stingrays including their 2-1 shoot out victory over the Rays last week. Robin Carruthers has six points on four goals and two assists in five games against the Rays this season.

At The Coliseum: Family Fun Friday! Fans get four tickets, four hot dogs, four cokes and popcorn for just 40$. Its Hess Championship Ring give away night. A 2001 official Kelly Cup Championship ring will be given to a lucky fan courtesy of Hess and Hess Express.

Saturday, April 2, 2004 Vs Greensboro 7:30 @ North Charleston Coliseum

Only the second visit to the North Charleston Coliseum for former Stingrays Head Coach Rick Adduono. The Generals are competing with the Stingrays for a playoff spot in the Southern Division. Greensboro is 2-1 this season against the Stingrays.

At the Coliseum: Fan Appreciation Night! Free Parking and $ 7.00 Military tickets. The Stingrays will hold a live jersey auction after the game.

The Week That Was:

Tuesday, March 23, 2004, Stingrays 3 Vs Florence 0

The Stingrays snapped a three game losing streak in their series with the Florence Pride with a 3-0 shut out win. Marty Clapton had the game winning goal and David Brumby made 33 saves in the victory as the Stingrays won their third straight game at home.

Thursday, March 25, 2004 Stingrays 3 @ Columbia 6

Ed Courtenay and Mike Barrie each had a goal and an assist in the game, but Tim Smith's goal and two assists sparked the Inferno to a win. The win clinched the Alltel Palmetto Cup for the Inferno for the third straight season. This game was the third straight road loss for the Stingrays after their successful five win west coast swing.

Friday, March 26, 2004 Stingrays 1 Vs Columbia 2 SO

Curtis Huppe's third period power play goal lifted the Stingrays into overtime. Kirk Daubenspeck stopped 38 of 39 in the game, but David Brumby had to come on for the shootout due to a game misconduct to Daubenspeck on the final play of overtime.

Saturday, March 27, 2004 Stingrays 2 @ Columbus 6

The Cottonmouths scored five of the first six goals in the hockey game to put the Stingrays away for the third straight time. The loss was the fourth straight on the road for South Carolina. Ed Courtenay and Robin Gomez managed the only goals for the Stingrays as Kenton Smith had a pair for the Cottonmouths.

The Team:

The Stingrays are in fifth in the Southern Division with a record of 37-27-4. The team went 1-2-1 this week with one home win and two road losses and a home shoot out loss. The Stingrays are one point behind the Greensboro Generals for fourth place in the Southern Division. South Carolina is 3-6-1 in its last ten games and is now 18-13-2 at home and 19-14-2 on the road. The Stingrays boast the best road power play in the ECHL at 23.2%. The Stingrays are 20-15-3 against teams in the Southern Division and 17-12-1 against the other divisions. The Rays are 4-2 in overtime games, 6-2 in shootout games and 15-3-4 in one goal games overall. When they score first, the Stingrays are 23-8-2. South Carolina has allowed just 2.81 goals against per game this season which ranks 13th in the league. Offensively the team is ranked 23rd averaging 2.84 goals per game. The Rays power play improved to 13th in the league at 18.5% and the team is ranked 16th on the penalty kill at 82.3%

The Players:

Mike Barrie has been the hottest Stingrays over the course of the last ten games. He has three goals and nine assists for 12 points in his last ten games. Curtis Huppe has five goals and five assists in the same time frame. Three of his five goals in the last ten games have come on the power play. David Brumby is 3-2-1 in his last eight appearances with a GAA of 2.60. Kirk Daubenspeck has not won a start since his victory over the Idaho Steelheads on March 6th.
