San Diego owns the all-time series match-up, posting a 69-29-6 record against its Pacific Division rival.
LAST HEAD-TO-HEAD MEETING: MARCH 20:
Mike Brusseau stopped 23 of 24 shots while Kris Porter and Daniel Bohac did the scoring damage as Fresno skated to a 2-1 win over the Gulls. Teams skated to a scoreless first period before Porter netted a power-play goal 1:06 into the second. Bohac made it a 2-0 game with 50 seconds left in the second and Fresno rode the hot goaltending of Brusseau the rest of the way. Mark Pederson scored the lone San Diego goal midway through the third period.
GULLS UPDATE:
The Gulls (45-13-10) have already clinched first place in the Pacific Division and are one point away from clinching the top spot in the Western Conference, which would give them home-ice advantage in the first three rounds of playoffs... San Diego is just four points back of the Wheeling Nailers for the best record in the ECHL. The Gulls have two games in hand on Wheeling but the Nailers hold the tiebreaker with more wins... San Diego is 17-8-9 on the road this season and unbeaten in 13 of its last 14 away from the Sports Arena (7-1-6). The only regulation loss during that span came to the Falcons on March 20...
OTHER NOTES:
San Diego is unbeaten in 14 of its last 15 games overall (10-1-4)... The Gulls are 41-10-5 against Pacific Division teams... They've lost in regulation only three times in their last 34 games (24-3-7) and six times in their last 50 games (36-6-8)... The Blue and Orange are one win away from tying the 1991-92 Toledo Storm for most wins by an ECHL expansion team... San Diego is six of its last 55 on the power play (10.9 percent)... Trevor Koenig is second in the ECHL with 34 wins and tied for fourth with a 2.22 goals-against average. He is unbeaten in 25 of his last 27 games (19-2-6)... Pederson still leads the league with 43 goals and is tied for fourth with 79 points... Greg Barber has dropped to second among all ECHL rookies with 73 points and 44 assists...
DESCHATELETS STILL STREAKING:
Sylvain Deschatelets is in the midst of a career-high and ECHL season-high 22-game point streak. He has 35 points (13g, 22a) during the streak, which began Feb. 10... The Gulls' franchise record for longest point streak is 26 games, set by Kyle Reeves in 1997-98. The ECHL record for longest point streak is 38 games, set by Trevor Jobe in 1992-93... Deschatelets is tied for seventh in the ECHL with 78 points overall...
NEW CAREER HIGHS:
Several Gulls players have set or are nearing career highs. Here's a list of players who've already set career highs this season: Deschatelets (54 assists and 78 points), Samy Nasreddine (10 goals) and David Neale (eight goals). Dan Cousineau has tied a career high with four goals, while Sandro Sbrocca has tied his career high with six goals. Deschatelets is one goal shy of tying a career high, while Mike Garrow is one goal and one assist away from setting new career highs...
FRESNO UPDATE:
The Falcons (21-41-6) enter the day last in the Pacific Division with 48 points, three behind the sixth-place Long Beach Ice Dogs... Fresno has lost three straight games... Kris Porter leads the club with 48 points (19g, 29a)... The Gulls have lost three times in regulation over the last 34 games. The Falcons are responsible for two of those losses... Brusseau, who's played in three games against San Diego this season, has a .932 save percentage against the Blue and Orange...
TRANSACTIONS:
Chris Gobert remains on seven-day injured reserve with an upper leg injury. He is scheduled to be activated on Wednesday... The Gulls have three players in the American Hockey League: Billy Tibbetts (Houston), Nick Lent (Springfield) and Josh Gratton (Cincinnati)... Jamie Black (ankle) and Dennis Purdie (shoulder) both remain on the injured list...
