West Valley City, Utah - Four different skaters tallied, as the Steelheads bested the Utah Grizzlies, 4-3, in the first-ever meeting at the E-Center between the two division rivals.

The Steelheads (18-6-2) earned their 10th road win with their triumph, while remaining unbeaten in their last six games (5-0-1).

The home team scored first, as Grizzlies' (16-10-2) winger Jeff Miles notched his 12th goal of the season on a backhander that caromed off the far post and found twine behind Steelheads goaltender Steve Silverthorn (25 saves). Louis Dumont and Brian Escobedo registered the assists on the goal at 1:54 of the first period.

At 14:54 of the frame, veteran defenseman Jeremy Mylymok tied the game at one with his first goal of the season. With the Steelheads rushing into the Grizzlies zone, Mylymok jumped into the play and received a drop pass from winger Greg Hornby. The London, Ontario native released a quick snap shot that handcuffed netminder Alfie Michaud (36 saves) and found the back of the net.

The first period shots were 12-11 in favor of the home team.

The Steelheads took their first lead of the game at 3:18 of the second period, when defenseman Blake Forsyth tallied his first goal of the season. Captain D'Arcy McConvey and Mike Stutzel gathered the assists.

Just 12 seconds later, the Grizzlies responded. D.J. Jelitto banged a rebound past Silverthorn for his third goal of the year. Matt Craig, who took the initial shot, and Ryan Kinasewich got the assists.

Winger Justin Cox gave the visitors their second lead of the evening at 14:06 of the second period with his sixth goal of the season. Cox was the recipient of a nifty passing play between linemates Marty Flichel and Scott Burt, but was denied on his original shot. Cox followed up his own rebound, and as he was falling to the ice, he poked the loose puck past Michaud.

Stutzel was credited with a power play goal at 13:23 of the third, snapping a nine-game streak without a marker. Defenseman Jonathan Zion received the only assist on what turned out to be the game-winning goal.

Craig cut the lead to 4-3 with 25 seconds left in regulation. With Michaud on the bench for an extra attacker and the Grizzlies on the man advantage, Craig lifted the puck over Silverthorn after a scramble in front of the Steelheads' net. Dumont and Kinasewich got the assists.

After out-shooting the Grizzlies, 40-28, the Steelheads are now 13-3-1 when having an advantage in shots in 2005-2006.

The Steelheads have officially won the season series against the Grizzlies, although two meetings still remain. With the win, the Steelheads moved to 4-0-1 versus the Grizzlies and 13-5-2 in West Division play.

Silverthorn has now won four straight starts, as he picked up his team-leading 10th victory of the season. Michaud was saddled with the loss, his eighth of the season.

These two clubs square off again on Tuesday, December 27 at 7:05 p.m. MST.
