Statement Issued on Proposed American Royal Complex and Multi-Use Arena in Kansas
February 16, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Kansas City Mavericks News Release
INDEPENDENCE, MISSOURI - A recent AP article details plans for a possible American Royal location in Kansas that includes a multi-use arena. While there is potential for hockey programming within the complex, plans are in no way finalized. It is the oft-stated goal of our ownership group (Loretto Sports Ventures) to expand the hockey footprint in Kansas City for youth hockey and for hockey fans. This and any new options for ice in the Kansas City area would be welcome developments and hold potential for our United States Hockey League (USHL) team, as well as much needed additional ice time for youth hockey under our Kansas City Youth Hockey Association (KCYHA). The proposed American Royal project in no way impacts or affects the current home of the Missouri Mavericks, Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.
