
Jackals Welcome Back Veteran Defenseman Nick Tuzzolino

ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and the AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today that veteran defenseman Nick Tuzzolino has been assigned to Elmira by the Binghamton Senators.
Tuzzolino, 30, returns to Elmira where he has skated in 59 games with the Jackals over the past two seasons. The veteran blueliner began the season in Binghamton appearing in 11 games for the Senators. Tuzzolino is in his ninth professional season and brings 548 professional games of experience back to Elmira.
With the Jackals, Tuzzolino has recorded 23 points (two goals, 21 assists) and 112 penalty minutes over the last two seasons. The Buffalo, N.Y. native has appeared in 355 career ECHL games with the Jackals, Fort Wayne Komets, Utah Grizzlies, Wheeling Nailers and Alaska Aces.
He has also added 111 AHL games with the Binghamton Senators, Rochester Americans, Utah Comets, Abbotsford Heat, Lake Erie Monsters and Portland Pirates. Tuzzolino also skated with Fort Wayne in the UHL and the Flint Generals in the IHL.
In 548 professional games, the 6-foot-5 225-pound defenseman has notched 234 points (53 goals, 181 assists and 1170 penalty minutes. Tuzzolino was drafted in the seventh round (#196 overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders.
In additional team news, the club has loaned goaltender Alex Vazzano to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.
Vazzano, 25, has appeared in five games with the Jackals this season posting a 1-1-2 record with a 3.37 goals-against-average and a .902 save percentage.
