Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Eastern League announced the teams for the mid-season, all-star game, which will be played in Portland on Wednesday, July 13th. Harrisburg will send four players to the game, which will be a battle of the Northern and Southern Divisions.
Rite-Aid balloting decided two players from each team as one pitcher and one position player were selected by the fans.
For Harrisburg, pitcher Saul Rivera and outfielder Dee Haynes won the balloting at Commerce Bank Park. Rivera has been outstanding out of the Senators' bullpen while Haynes has been a three-time league player of the week this season. Haynes also was selected as the E.L.'s Player of the Month for May.
Also added to the team were infielder Edgar Gonzalez and catcher John Wilson. Gonzalez has been one of the most consistent performers for the Senators during the 2005 season. Edgar leads the team in games played (75), Hits (75) and doubles (19) while playing several different positions.
Wilson joined the Senators from triple-A New Orleans on June 1st and has been batting near or over .300 most of his stay in Harrisburg this season. Wilson batted just .201 with the Senators last year.
Both Eastern League Rosters, with stats follow.
