St. Cloud Rox News Release
Alexandria, Minn. - The St. Cloud Rox and the Alexandria Blue Anchors were back at it after three days off for the Northwoods League All-Star break. The Rox fell to the Blue Anchors by a final score of 5-2.
The game went scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning when the Blue Anchors posted a run off a sacrifice fly and one on a solo home run by Tim Cusick for a 2-0 lead over the Rox.
Alexandria would post another run in the bottom of the fifth to take a 3-0 lead into the sixth inning.
St. Cloud was finally able to get things going in the sixth as Blake Headley led off the inning hitting a single. Dustin Breshears then earned a walk and a pass ball would move both runners to scoring position. A sacrifice fly to center field by Tim Colwell would score Headley for the Rox to trail 3-1. With two outs on the board a wild pitch brought home Breshears to trail the Blue Anchors 3-2.
In the bottom half of the inning Alexandria put up two more runs, one of which was on a wild pitch and their final run in the game came on a ground out to short. The Rox would get out of the jam posting a double play and then catching a fly out to left field.
The Rox were only able to get one more hit in the game and could not get by the Blue Anchors defense to tie the game up as they fell by a 5-2 final.
Starting on the mound for the Rox was Kyle Murray as he pitched four innings of work and recorded the loss. Also seeing action was Bryce Jackson for one inning, John Oltman for two innings, and Alex McRae for one inning of work.
