Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis. - After giving up five runs in a loss on Thursday, the Bullfrog bullpen allowed only one run in four innings on Friday, en route to a 5-4 victory over the Loggers in La Crosse.
La Crosse took an early 2-0 lead on Friday night, plating two runs on back to back doubles from Kevin Zak and Michael Katz.
The Bullfrogs got on the board in the second on a solo home run from Robert Youngdahl, his fifth of the season, to make the score 2-1.
In the fourth inning, Bryant Burleson hit the second of two Bullfrog home runs to tie the game at 2-2.
The Loggers were quick to answer back with a solo shot of their own, this one from Zak in the fifth inning. However, the Bullfrogs again promptly tied it up when Nick Torres walked with the bases loaded to tie the game at 3-3.
Neither starting pitcher went past the sixth inning. Green Bay starter Derek Callahan gave up three earned runs in five innings. La Crosse's Zack Reser also gave up three earned runs in 5.1 innings before handing it over to the relievers.
The Bullfrog bullpen wound up winning the battle down the stretch. Logan West did not allow a baserunner on in his two innings of work for Green Bay. In the meantime, the Bullfrog offense strung together three hits and two walks in the seventh, bringing home two runs on RBI from Jack Parenty and Burleson. The Bullfrogs tacked on two in that inning to take their first lead of the night, 5-3 the score.
In the eighth, drama prevailed, but Max Frederick in his Bullfrogs debut was able to strand the bases loaded after allowing one run to hold the Bullfrog lead at 5-4.
Calen Rohrman closed it out with a perfect ninth inning, earning his first save as a Bullfrog.
The win went to West. The loss went to La Crosse's Ben Cejka.
