Durham Bulls News Release
DURHAM, NC - Bulls right fielder Josh Lowe launched a three-run home run and first baseman Jonathan Aranda recorded two hits to extend his hit streak to twelve games, however Sounds designated hitter Esteury Ruiz clubbed three hits and first baseman Jon Singleton drove in three runs in Nashville's 10-7 win over Durham on Tuesday evening at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
After the Sounds grabbed an early 4-0 lead with a pair of two-run innings in the first and second, the Bulls narrowed the deficit to one with a three-run second courtesy of 2B Miles Mastrobuoni's RBI double and Aranda's two-run single. Nashville would make it a two-run game with a single tally in the fifth, though Durham would snatch the lead when Lowe went deep with a three-run shot to center. The Sounds, however, answered with a four-run seventh to take a 9-6 advantage, with Aranda driving in his third run with an RBI groundout in the seventh before Nashville added an additional insurance run in the ninth.
Aranda (2-4, R, 3 RBI), Mastrobuoni (2-3, 2 R, 2B, RBI, BB) and DH Curtis Mead (2-4) each tallied multi-hit efforts for Durham in the defeat. Aranda has now recorded at least one hit in each of his last 12 games dating back to August 9, posting a .408 batting average (20-49) with seven runs, three doubles, two homers and 17 RBI in that span. He has also driven in at least one run in each of his last eight games.
Sounds reliever Hobie Harris (1.1 IP, H, R, 2 SO) earned the win and Luis Perdomo (2.0 IP, 2 SO) notched the save. Bulls reliever Chris Muller (1.0 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 3 ER, BB, SO) suffered the defeat.
The Bulls continue their six-game series on Wednesday, August 24, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35pm. RHP Luis Patiño (2-1, 3.70) is anticipated to get the nod for Durham, with the Sounds expected to send RHP Josh Lindblom (5-7, 4.84) to the hill.
