Nashville, TN - Despite collecting 10 hits and drawing nine walks, Omaha dropped a 5-4 decision to Nashville Wednesday night in the third of four meetings at Greer Stadium. The Storm Chasers lost their second straight game to fall to 28-35 and into third place in the American Conference North Division, five games behind front-running Memphis.

Trailing by a run entering the ninth inning, Max Ramirez opened the frame with a single before closer Rob Wooten, the last of six Nashville hurlers, struck out the next two hitters. Willy Taveras then singled to right field to send pinch-runner Chase Lambin to second base but Jarrod Dyson struck out to end the game. The visitors stranded two runners in four different frames and left the bases loaded in two others in slipping to 13-20 away from home.

Omaha starter Justin Marks walked the bases loaded with one out in the second before Ozzie Chavez doubled in two runs and Hainley Statia singled in another during what turned into a four-run rally that gave the hosts at least a three-run lead after the first or second inning in each of the three games of the set. Nashville added another run in the third to forge a five-run advantage on a two-out RBI double by Sean Halton.

The Storm Chasers southpaw regrouped and kept the Sounds hitless from there to finish off his five inning outing in which he was charged with all five runs on four hits and five free passes while striking out a pair. Francisley Bueno and Will Smith teamed to throw three scoreless frames in relief, making it one earned run allowed over their last 29 1/3 innings for the Omaha bullpen.

Nashville starter Jimmy Nelson walked the bases loaded in the first inning before fanning Ramirez to end the threat. However, the right-hander paid the price for issuing a pair of walks in the fourth, as both Adam Moore and Chad Tracy scored in a three-run burst that featured back-to-back two-out run-scoring singles from Christian Colon and Johnny Giavotella.

Kyle Heckathorn got the last out in the fourth and retired the side in order in the fifth and gave way to Omaha native Zach Kroenke, who yielded an RBI hit to Colon that trimmed the margin to 5-4. The former Westside High and Nebraska southpaw was removed after an inning of work and followed by Michael Olmstead, who tossed a scoreless seventh inning, and Jesus Sanchez, who blanked the visitors in the eighth despite allowing a hit and issuing a walk.
