
Fourth Year of Chasers FUNdamentals Kicks Off This Week

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers are proud to announce the continuation of Chasers FUNdamentals, with the mission of the program is to educate minority youth, ages 8-12, on the basics of playing the sport of baseball. The 2013 season marks the fourth year for the Chasers FUNdamentals program, which is presented by the Home Run Foundation of Greater Omaha, CVS and the Peter Kiewit Foundation.
The first of the six Chasers FUNdamentals clinics at the Salvation Army North Corps location took place this past Monday, and the first of seven clinics taking place at the Hillside Little League ball fields in a partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Omaha kicks off today starting at 10 a.m. All FUNdametal events are run by the Omaha Storm Chasers front office staff.
"We are fortunate to be able to provide the great game of baseball to these children," said Chasers President and General Manager, Martie Cordaro. "It is an opportunity for our staff to be able to work with these children who have never had the opportunity to play America's pastime."
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Omaha, including North, South, Carter Lake, Westside and King Science are all participating in the seven-week clinic which is every Wednesday from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Hillside Little League ball fields up to July 31st, but will take place on a Tuesday the weeks of June 18th and July 23rd. The Salvation Army North Corps is also taking part in a six-week session of Chasers FUNdamentals that takes place at the North Corps location every Monday through July 22nd (excluding July 1st).
Bus transportation for the participants of Chasers FUNdamentals to the clinics each Wednesday is, for a fourth year, provided by the Peter Kiewit Foundation. Snacks, drinks and shirts are provided by CVS.
