Iowa's Raley Recalled to Chicago

Oklahoma City, OK - The Chicago Cubs announced a series of roster moves that have impacted the Iowa Cubs roster. Following their game last night, the Cubs acquired relief pitcher Henry Rodriguez from the Washington Nationals and designated Iowa RH Eduardo Sanchez for assignment. Prior to today's game, Chicago placed RH Zach Putnam on the disabled list and recalled LH Brooks Raley from Iowa. INF Ian Stewart has been placed on Iowa's suspended list and INF Edwin Maysonet has been activated from the D.L.

Sanchez is 0-1 with a 9.82 ERA (8ER/7.1IP) in six games with Iowa since the Cubs claimed him off waivers from St. Louis on May 21. He had no record, one save, and a 3.72 ERA (4ER/9.2IP) in nine games with Memphis to begin the season.

Putnam had made five appearances with Chicago since getting called up on May 30. He had no record and an 18.90 ERA (7ER/3.1IP) in the big leagues after going 1-1 with four saves and a 3.26 ERA (7ER/9.1IP) in 17 games with Iowa.

Raley is 5-4 with a 4.92 ERA (35ER/64.0IP) and one save in 13 games (12 starts) for the I-Cubs this year. He earned the save, the first of his career, on May 16 at home against Tucson working in relief of Matt Garza on a rehab assignment. Raley is 9-12 with a 4.19 ERA (68ER/146.0IP) in 27 games (26 starts) in his Iowa career over the last two season. He made his major league debut last year with Chicago and was 1-2 with an 8.14 ERA (22ER/24.1IP) in five starts.

Stewart is batting .168 (19-for-113) with five home runs and 20 RBI in 40 games with Iowa. The first 13 games were part of a Major League rehab assignment.

Maysonet has been out since June 4 with a strained left hamstring. He is batting .255 (24-for-94) with five homers and 20 RBI in 38 games with the I-Cubs this year.

The Cubs play game three of a four-game series against the Oklahoma City RedHawks at 7:05 tonight at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. LH Chris Rusin (4-6, 3.67) will start for the Cubs against LH Brett Oberholtzer (4-4, 4.92) for the RedHawks. The game will be broadcast live on AM 940 and streamed live at iowacubs.com with the On-Deck Circle Pre-Game Show starting at 6:45.
