Bridgeport, Conn, - For the second game against the Albany River Rats, the Sound Tigers surrendered the first goal but were able to fight back and earn a victory. Tonight, behind Mike Iggulden's natural hat-trick, the Sound Tigers were able to fight back from a 1-0 deficit to defeat the River Rats 3-1 in front of 5,918 fans at the team's home opener. Yann Danis started in goal for the second straight game and stopped 21 of the 22 shots he faced to collect his third win of the season and second against Albany.

In the first period, Harrison Reed recorded his first goal of the season on a broken play in front of Danis while the River Rats were on the power-play. Dwight Helminen threw a shot on net that was blocked in the slot but Reed was there to back-hand the puck past Danis' right pad to give Albany the 1-0 lead. Bryan Rodney also had an assist on the goal coming 6:58 into the opening frame.

Both net-minders faced several good chances in the second but were able to keep the game dead-locked going into the third period.

Iggulden opened the scoring just over two minutes into the third period. Jamie Fraser set up a play in the Albany zone and passed the puck to Kurtis McLean in the right circle. Iggulden caught a feed from McLean at the left post and jammed the puck through River Rats' starting net-minder Justin Peters for his second goal of the season, tying the score a one. His second tally of the period would come at about the half-way mark, when he fired his third marker of the season through Peters while the Sound Tigers were on the man-advantage. Brett Skinner sent a pass, cross ice to Iggulden who was stationed in the left circle. Iggulden picked his spot and leaned into a slap shot, eluding the Albany goaltender, to give the Sound Tigers the 2-1 lead. Andrew MacDonald would have the second helper on what was eventually the game-winning goal. The game was sealed with just 43 seconds remaining when Iggulden completed his natural hat-trick, wristing a shot from center ice, into the back of the net as Peters was on the bench in favor of the extra attacker. Skinner had the lone assist on Iggulden's fourth goal of the season which came on the power-play closing out the scoring at 3-1 in favor of the Sound Tigers.

Danis was named the second star after allowing only one goal on the 22 shots fired on him while Peters was the third star turning aside 29. The Sound Tigers finished 2-for-6 on the power-play and 5-for-6 on the penalty-kill. With the win, the Sound Tigers improve to 3-1-0-1 for seven points, keeping them in a tie for second place with the Binghamton Senators for the second spot in the East Division.

The Sound Tigers will return to action tomorrow night when they take on the Philadelphia Phantoms on Kids Opening Day. Face-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. Fans can look forward to seeing several mascots in attendance from around the area and an exciting karate demonstration by A1 Martial Arts during the second intermission.
