MANCHESTER, NH - The Lowell Devils outshot the Manchester Monarchs 41-19 and were able to hold on for a 2-1 victory on Saturday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Having fallen to the Monarchs, 6-4, the previous night, the Devils were able to exact revenge in Manchester's home opener and the back half of the home-and-home weekend series.

Lowell opened the scoring for the first time this season after their two-man advantage expired early in the second period. Still skating 5-on-4, Rod Pelley took Pascal Rheaume's centering pass and whacked it under netminder Jonathan Quick at 3:44.

The Devils would hold on that lead until the final 5:42 of the contest as the Monarchs scored the equalizer on a power play of their own. With Lowell d-man Olivier Magnan without his stick in front, Marty Murray was able to feather a pass to the slot that Dave Meckler one-timed past Scott Clemmensen.

Ryan Murphy helped the Devils go back up one just 52 seconds later as, on a delayed penalty call, he was able to tip Tyler Eckford's point shot through the five-hole of Quick.

Clemmensen held the Monarchs off the board for the rest of the evening and finished with 18 saves for his second win of the season. Lowell went 1-for-7 on the power play and has now converted on the man-advantage in four straight games.

The Lowell Devils next play at home on Wednesday, October 22 against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 7:00 p.m. Listen to all of the action live on 980AM-WCAP as Ryan Johnston brings you all of the play-by-play.
