Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

HAMILTON, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs and the Bulldogs Foundation announced today the launch of the "Agree to Read" program that began Thursday at Cecil B. Sterling Elementary School.

"Agree to Read" is a reading incentive program available to students attending Hamilton Schools that the Bulldogs hockey club and the Bulldogs Foundation will be associated with this year. The students participating in the program will agree to a contract, which will signed by both Bulldogs Head Coach Don Lever and the student themselves. Students will receive their contracts from Bulldogs players at assemblies arranged by the Bulldogs Foundation at the participating schools. By signing these contracts, the students agree to read for 10 minutes a day, during a one-month period. When the student has completed their contractual obligations, the Hamilton players will return and reward the students with a variety of prizes including tickets to a Hamilton Bulldogs game and autographed merchandise.

At the first official assembly on Thursday, Bulldogs President and Governor Glenn Stanford, Director of Brand Marketing Paul Giordano and 'Dogs forwards Mathieu Aubin and Tyler Shelast and defenceman Frederic St-Denis visited the school to hand out contracts to the students. Following the announcement of the program, the Bulldogs players interacted and signed autographs for the students.

The Bulldogs and the Bulldogs Foundation will host their second "Agree to Read" assembly at Hess Street School on Tuesday, October 21st.
