Bridgeport Islanders News Release
Bridgeport, CT - Yann Danis made 45 saves in the Bridgeport Sound Tiger net Friday night, and Ben Walter and Tyler Haskins notched a goal and an assist apiece, as the Sound Tigers defeated the Hartford Wolf Pack by a score of 4-1 at the Arena at Harbor Yard.
The Wolf Pack outshot the Sound Tigers 46-25 in the game, including a combined 33-14 in the first two periods, but Danis stopped all but one of Hartford's attempts.
Bridgeport scored all of its goals in the third period, three on special teams, after Hartford carried a 1-0 lead into the third.
The only shot to beat Danis came at the 13:47 mark of the first period. The Wolf Pack's Artem Anisimov drove the net the net and lifted a Mike Ouellette pass up under the crossbar.
The second period was scoreless, with Danis stopping 17 Hartford shots, while his teammates only managed eight shots on Miika Wiikman's net.
The Sound Tigers started their third-period burst at 6:17, as Ben Walter flipped a shot past Wiikman from the right side of the goalmouth, after Walter's pass on a two-on-one had been blocked. Bridgeport then seized control of the game with a pair of power-play goals 19 seconds apart. With David Urquhart already in the box for roughing and another penalty coming against Corey Potter, Trevor Smith knocked a rebound past Wiikman. Then, while Potter was serving his penalty, MIke Sillinger snapped in a shot from the slot on the stick side.
Haskins finished the special-teams onslaught with a shorthanded goal at 15:54. Bobby Sanguinetti lost the puck at the Bridgeport blue line, allowing Haskins a breakaway into the Wolf Pack zone. Haskins finished the play with a backhand into the top of the net.
The Wolf Pack power-play was 0/6 with the shorthanded goal-against, and Bridgeport was 2/4 with the man-advantage. The 46 shots were a season high for Hartford.
