Providence Bruins News Release
Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, in their 17th season in the American Hockey League, announced that defenseman Matt Lashoff has been assigned to Providence by the National Hockey League's Boston Bruins. With the move, the P-Bruins have 25 players on their roster, including 14 forwards, eight defensemen and three goaltenders.
Lashoff, 22, is in his fourth professional season, all spent in the Boston organization. The blue-liner was recalled to Boston on November 19 and was a healthy scratch for three games with the big club. Lashoff began this season in Providence, registering 13 points (3g, 10a) and 21 penalty minutes in 15 games. He enjoyed a five-game point-streak from October 12-24, followed by his best game of the season on November 14 against the Worcester Sharks in which he scored a goal and added three assists for a four-point game and a plus-four rating.
A native of East Greenbush, New York, Lashoff split 2007-08 between Boston and Providence, earning five points (g, 4a) in 18 games for Boston while matching a career-high with 36 points (9g, 27a) for the P-Bruins. In his career, the two-time PlanetUSA AHL All-Star starter has 87 points (24g, 63a) in 146 contests at the AHL level to go along with seven points (g, 6a) in 30 games for Boston.
Prior to being drafted by Boston 22nd overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Lashoff spent three years in the Ontario Hockey League with the Kitchener Rangers.
