Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester)... The Rochester Americans earned their third win of the season, beating the Lake Erie Monsters by a score of 2-1 tonight at the Blue Cross Arena. The game ends an Amerks seven-game winless streak.
The Amerks were lead by goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu who had a stellar performance in net with 27 saves on 28 shots. Michael Repik and Dan Collins each netted a goal in the win, while Michael Duco, Andrew Sweetland, Stefan Meyer, and Keaton Ellerby each had assists. Sweetland's assist was the rookie's first professional point of his career.
The Monsters were lead by Chris Mueller who came up with the lone Monster goal, with assists from Mark McCutcheon and Ray Macias. In goal, Jason Bacashihua made 21 saves on 23 shots in the loss.
Dan Collins broke the scoreless tie at the 5:05 mark of the second when he roofed the puck over Monsters Bacashihua to give Rochester a 1-0 lead. Collins' third goal of the season was assisted by Duco and Sweetland.
The Amerks extended their lead to 2-0 on the power play when Meyer fed a cross-crease pass to a wide open Repik, who wasted no time to deposit the puck in the back of the net. Repik's fifth goal of the season ties him for the team lead with 10 points and ties him with Duco for a team-high five goals.
The Monsters came back in the third with a goal at 15:12 by Mueller, who finessed a shot over the right shoulder of Beckford-Tseu. With just over a minute left, the Monsters pulled goaltender Bacashihua for the extra skater, but the Amerks preserved the lead to secure their third win this season.
Rochester travels to Van Andel Arena to take on the Grand Rapids Griffins on Saturday, November 29th. The 7:00 p.m. North Division showdown will be the first of eight meetings between the teams this season and will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live.
The Amerks will return home again on December 5th to face the Iowa Chops. The 7:35 match-up will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live.
