The Chicago Wolves have signed defenseman JON INSANA.

INSANA has appeared in 11 American Hockey League games with the Houston Aeros this season, notching three points (G, 2A) and six penalty minutes, prior to being released by the team on Nov. 25.

The 28-year-old blueliner, who skated in two outings with the Wolves in 2006-07, has spent the last two seasons with the Grand Rapids Griffins, which includes recording an AHL career-high 13 points in a career-most 65 games last year. Overall, he has registered 22 assists, 27 points and 91 penalty minutes in 146 AHL games, spanning parts of seven seasons (2002 to present) with Manchester, Lowell, Cleveland, Grand Rapids and Chicago.

The Mount Clemens, Mich., native, spent four years at Michigan State University (1998 to 2002) prior to turning pro, and has also posted 30 assists, 39 points and 72 penalty minutes in 101 career ECHL outings, and 44 assists, 61 points and 159 penalty minutes in 134 career United Hockey League outings.

In accordance with team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
