BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, blanked the Springfield Falcons 4-0 at home Wednesday behind goaltender Wade Dubielewicz's second shutout of the season. The Sound Tigers are now unbeaten-in-regulation in the last three games going 2-0-0-1. Dubielewicz has stopped 106 of 109 shots during the streak.

The Sound Tigers took the lead 1-0 in the first period at 8:43 on a power-play goal by Bruno Gervais, his tenth tally this year, off assists from Robert Nilsson and Rob Collins. All three players extended scoring streaks on the play with Gervais upping his goal-scoring lead among active Sound Tigers as well.

Springfield came within inches of knotting up the game when Jason Jaspers fired a wrister past Dubielewicz later in the opening frame, but the puck hit the post, and that was the closest call for the rest of the night.

Vince Macri was called for cross-checking at 15:38 in the second period putting the Sound Tigers a man down. Despite the penalty, the Sound Tigers upped their lead to 2-0 at 17:31 when Cole Jarrett put home his second goal of the year off an assist from Collins. It was the Sound Tigers' fifth shorthanded tally of the season. The assist was the team-leading 21st for Collins, as well as his team-best 29th point.

In the third period, Sound Tiger Sean Bergenheim capitalized on a Springfield penalty at 12:39 to extend the lead to 3-0. It was Bergenheim's seventh goal of the year with Nilsson and Jeremy Colliton assisting on the play. The Sound Tigers then put the game away when Masi Marjamaki scored his second goal of the season as he was falling down just 1:24 later off assists from Matt Koalska and Jarrett for the final score of 4-0.

The Sound Tigers were 2 for 5 on the power play, 4 for 4 on the penalty kill and held a 38-36 shots on goal advantage. The first star was Dubielewicz, the second was Nilsson and the third was Collins. Dubielewicz made 36 saves while Springfield's Brian Eklund stopped 34 of 38 shots.

The Sound Tigers played without leading goal scorer Jeff Hamilton who returned from the Islanders and practiced in Bridgeport Tuesday but was recalled by the big club Wednesday morning. The Sound Tigers added some depth and grit to their defensive corps by signing Mario Larocque to a professional tryout prior to the game.

The Sound Tigers will visit the Philadelphia Phantoms this Friday at 7:05 p.m. then return home to host the Lowell Lock Monsters in a New Year's Eve matinee this Saturday at 1:05 p.m. All Sound Tigers games are web-cast live at www.soundtigers.com.
