Portland Pirates News Release
Last night, Dustin Penner scored two goals, but Albany's Mike Sgroi scored a hat trick to push the River Rats to a 7-6 overtime win against the Pirates at the Pepsi Arena.
On Friday, the Pirates will host the Providence Bruins at 7:05 p.m. Every Friday night home game is Amato's Future Stars Friday! To find out how you can get your Amato's Future Stars ID card, call the Pirates at (207) 828-4665.
On Saturday, Hockey Night in Portland, the Pirates face the Springfield Falcons for a special 5:35 p.m. game for Kids New Years, sponsored by U.S. Cellular and WJBQ 97.9 FM. All kids tickets purchased in advance of this game will be just $5.00. This year the Portland Pirates indoor fireworks display will feature the music from Cirque du Soleil.

Friday, December 30 vs. Providence 7:05 p.m. - Amato's Future Stars Friday! During the 2005-06 season the Pirates are proud to offer all Maine State Hockey Association, Middle School and High School hockey players a chance to catch all Pirates Friday home games on us - free of charge! If you don't have an Amato's Future Stars ID card, call the Pirates at 828-4665.
Saturday, December 31 vs. Springfield 5:35 p.m. - Kids New Years sponsored by U.S. Cellular. There will be noisemaker, pom pom, and glow stick giveaways and fireworks after the game. The fireworks display will feature the music from Cirque du Soleil. All tickets for kids purchased in advance (16 and under) are only $5.
"Motorsports Weekend" on January 13th& 14th- The weekend starts on Friday, January 13, 2006 the Pirates host the Providence Bruins at 7:05 p.m. This game will include many events that feature a motorsports theme. On Saturday, 2005 American Idol, Carrie Underwood will host a concert at the Cumberland County Civic Center to benefit the Jeff Gordon Foundation. Tickets for the concert are $45.00 and are on sale now at the Cumberland County Civic Center. Fans can visit the Civic Center box office or call 775-3458. Concert attendees will be treated with a complimentary collectible granite coaster of Carrie Underwood provided by Get-Etched.com.
IN THE COMMUNITY
On Saturday, December 31st, the Portland Pirates will be part of New Years Portland in downtown Portland from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m.
On Thursday, January 5th, Pirates players will present the Pirates "Goals for Success" program at the Fred P. Hall School in Portland from 1:30-2:30 p.m. The program is sponsored by Healthy Maine Partnerships and Pepsi.
