LOOKING BACK: On Tuesday, Mike Sgroi (with six goals in 135 career AHL games prior) recorded a hat trick and Ivan Khomutov scored in overtime to give Albany a 7-6 win over Portland... Ben Walter's natural hat trick lifted Providence to a 5-2 win in Springfield... Mark Hartigan recorded three goals and an assist in Syracuse's 4-2 win at Hamilton... Timofei Shishkanov scored nine seconds into OT as Milwaukee beat Peoria, 4-3... Steve Bernier recorded two goals and an assist for Cleveland in a 3-0 win over San Antonio... On Monday, Wilkes-Barre scored seven times in the first period en route to an 8-1 win over Hershey.

The Wolf Pack are 7-3-1 against the Penguins all-time in the regular season, but it's a seven-game triumph in the 2004 Eastern Conference final that gives the Pens bragging rights... Wilkes-Barre remains atop the AHL standings with 53 points in 31 games, while Hartford is 9-0-1-3 in its last 13 and three points out of first place in the Atlantic... Dwight Helminen is on a nine-game scoring streak for the Pack (9g, 6a), and rookie Al Montoya has won seven straight starts in net... Fourteen Penguins found the scoresheet in Monday's win over Hershey, led by Konstantin Koltsov (2g)... Dany Sabourin is 12-1-1 in the Wilkes-Barre cage this season.
Winning streaks collide at the Toyota Center as Houston hosts Iowa on Wednesday (7:05 CT)... The visiting Stars have won six straight games and are 10-1-1-1 in their last 13; the Aeros are winners of five in a row overall and six straight (and 11 of 12) at home... Houston captain Kirby Law, who is second only to teammate Erik Westrum in the AHL scoring race, will play his 500th career AHL game Wednesday... Josh Harding is 13-3-0 in his last 16 decisions for the Aeros... Iowa's Mike Smith, Junior Lessard, Marius Holtet and Patrick Traverse all played for Houston last year, while David Oliver was a member of the Aeros' 1999 Turner Cup championship team... Mathias Tjarnqvist has scored nine goals in nine games with the Stars.
Manitoba gets back to work with a two-game series against Toronto, beginning Thursday night at the MTS Centre (7:30 CT)... The Moose had an extended holiday break, off since a 1-0 win over San Antonio on Dec. 17... Rookie Mike Brown scored the only goal in that game, on a shorthanded penalty shot for Manitoba... The Marlies had a five-game winning streak snapped by Binghamton on Tuesday, but have still won four in a row on the road... Tyler Beechey has 10 points (4g, 6a) and a plus-9 rating in his last 11 games for Toronto... These teams met once previously this season, a come-from-behind 4-3 Moose win at Ricoh Coliseum on Nov. 25.
