Roy Named Canada's Captain for AHL All-Star Game

The Manitoba Moose, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, are pleased to announce Jimmy Roy has been named captain of the Canadian All-Star Team for the 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic to be held at the MTS Centre from January 31-February 1, 2006.

Captains for the American Hockey League All-Star teams are selected by the league in recognition of their outstanding service and leadership to the AHL. Current Moose forward Craig Darby was selected to be the captain of the PlanetUSA All-Stars in 2005, while former Moose captain Brian Chapman received a similar honor back in 2003.

Roy, 30, is in his ninth season with the Moose. The Sioux Lookout, ON native is the franchise leader in games played with 569, as well as goals with 97, and penalty minutes with 1369. He is fifth on the franchise list in career assists with 106 and earlier this season, passed Stephane Morin for second-place on Manitoba's all-time points list with 203. So far this year, Roy has five goals and three assists for eight points, along with 79 penalty minutes in 28 games. In 2003, Roy won the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award as the American Hockey League's Man of the Year for his community service efforts in the Winnipeg community.
