Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons, proud members of the American Hockey League, announced today that right wing Darren Reid has been reassigned to Springfield by their National Hockey League affiliate, the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Reid was recalled by the Lightning on December 16 and made his NHL debut on December 17 against the Detroit Red Wings recording five of Tampa Bay's 15 hits in that contest. In four games with Tampa Bay this season, Reid didn't register a point while averaging 6:32 of ice time. Reid is in his second season of professional hockey and has collected four goals and six assists for 10 points in 21 games with the Falcons this season. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound native of Lac La Biche, Alberta spent his rookie season with Springfield last year collecting three goals and 19 assists for 22 points and 99 penalty minutes in 56 games.
The Falcons will return to action Wednesday night when they travel to Bridgeport to battle the Sound Tigers starting at 7:05 PM. Springfield will host the Manchester Monarchs on Friday night, before heading to Portland on Saturday night for a New Year's Eve contest against the Pirates. All games can be heard live on the Falcons Hockey Network, WMAS AM 1450, as "The Voice" of the Falcons John Michael handles the play-by-play duties. All games can also be seen live through the B-2 Network for only $6.00.
