Atlanta Gladiators News Release
DULUTH, Ga. - The Gladiators announced that the team has signed rookie forward Dylan Smoskowitz to an ECHL contract on Friday. To facilitate the move, forward Anthony Perdicaro was traded to the Wichita Thunder for future considerations.
The 22-year-old Smoskowitz (pronounced SMAH-skoe-wits) completed his four year juniors career in the Ontario Hockey League in 2014. Smoskowitz split his time with the Barrie Colts, the Mississiauga Steelheads, and the Oshawa Generals, registering 86 goals and 55 assists in 255 total games played. His best season came in 2012-13, when he led the Steelheads offense with 33 goals, and was second on the team with 55 points in just 62 games played.
Before the 2013-14 OHL season began, the Richmond Hill, Ontario native played in five games for Team Canada at the Maccabiah Games in Israel. Smoskowitz tallied six goals and seven assists as the team won the gold medal under the direction of legendary NHL head coach Mike Keenan.
Smoskowitz will make his professional debut this weekend for the Gladiators. The team's three-in-three will kick off with the Gladiators hosting the Orlando Solar Bears at The Arena at Gwinnett Center on Friday night at 7:35 p.m. for Friendly Friday.
