Colorado Eagles News Release

Colo. -The Colorado Eagles (31-14-0-1) benefited from having fan favorite Darryl Bootland back on the ice as he scored the game-winner in the 3-1 victory over the Ontario Reign (26-13-2-4) on Friday evening at the Budweiser Events Center.

After a scoreless first period, Nathan Moon netted a power-play goal, 4:31 into the second period, to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead over the Reign. At 10:44, forward Vitalijs Pavlovs sent the puck to linemate Bootland who powered it past Ontario's goaltender, Joe Cannata, to gain a 2-0 lead. With 33 seconds left in the second, Eagles netminder, Clarke Saunders was pulled out of position and Reign forward Tristan King capitalized on the opportunity to cut into Eagles lead, 2-1.

With 2:30 left in the third period, Pavlovs received the assist from Bootland, and beating Cannata from the top of the circle to bring the Eagles lead to 3-1. Although the Reign tried for a late rally, Saunders stopped 29 of Ontario's 30 shots to secure the 3-1 victory.

Colorado now grows its lead in the Pacific Division, with a three-point advantage over second place Idaho, while expanding their lead over third place Ontario to five points in the standings.
