LOVELAND, Colo. - The Ontario Reign (26-13-2-4), four-time Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2014 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, opened their three-game road trip against the Colorado Eagles (31-14-0-1) with a 3-1 loss in front of 5,289 fans on Friday evening at the Budweiser Events Center.

Both teams played to a scoreless first period, with Joe Cannata making seven saves for the Reign, while Clarke Saunders stopped 12 shots for the Eagles.

Colorado broke through in the second period when Nathan Moon worked the puck free in the slot on the power-play and jammed it past Cannata at 4:31.

Darryl Bootland extended the lead for the Eagles when he snapped a shot from beneath the left circle into the net at 10:44.

Ontario cut its deficit in half when the puck was sent around the boards, and Tristan King flung it into a wide-open net as Saunders was caught roaming at 19:27.

In the third period, Vitalijs Pavlovs iced the game for Colorado when Cannata only managed to get a piece of Pavolvs' shot from the left circle, and the puck rolled into the net at 16:59

Cannata took the loss with 34 saves; Saunders picked up the win with 29 stops.
