Prince George Cougars battle the Everett Silvertips

EVERETT, WA- The Prince George Cougars (17-21-1-1) are winless in their last four after a 6-1 defeat to the Everett Silvertips (29-7-2-2) Saturday at Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, WA.
Hudson Thornton scored the Cougars' lone goal, on the power play, late in the first period. Ty Young stopped 48 of 54 shot fired his way in the Prince George net.
The Cougars are winless after their first two games of their six-game U.S. Division road trip, which resumes Tuesday in Kennewick, WA against the Tri-City Americans
FIRST PERIOD
Everett's Jackson Berezowski scored his first of two on the night at 14:11 to open the scoring. Thornton replied late in the first with a power play goal to tie the game 1-1 at 18:46. Thornton banked his ninth goal of the season off the goaltender and in from the goal line. Young was terrific in the opening frame, as he stopped 20 of 21 shots.
SECOND PERIOD
The Silvertips scored twice in the second period, both coming off the stick of Ryan Hofer. Hofer made it 2-1 at 1:41 of the middle frame, then scored at 16:44 to put Everett up 3-1 after 40 minutes. The Silvertips fired 22 shots at the Cougars in the second.
THIRD PERIOD
Everett added three more goals to pull away in the final frame. Alex Swetlikoff scored a power play goal at 5:16 to make it 4-1. Then, it was Berezowski picking up his second of the game at 10:34 to make it 5-1 Everett. The scoring was capped off by Niko Huuhtanen, who scored the 'Tips sixth goal at 16:28.
NOTES
Jonas Brøndberg played in his 100th career regular season game on Saturday. In his last two starts, Ty Young has stopped 93 shots. Jonny Hooker was not in the lineup due to a lower body injury; he's listed as day-to-day. Saturday was the Cougars first trip to Everett since February 21, 2020.
