Everett Silvertips News Release
EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips officially own the most points in the Western Hockey League.
Two goals from Jackson Berezowski and Ryan Hofer spurred the Tips to their 29th victory of the year over the Prince George Cougars in front of 5,117 fans at Angel of the Winds Arena.
Berezowski opened the scoring at 14:11 in the first period, collecting a loose puck between the hashmarks and wiring a wrist shot home. Though the Silvertips would dominate possession in the opening period, outshooting Prince George 21-5, the Cougars knotted the score with a powerplay goal as a sharp-angle try by Hudson Thornton snuck its way through Koen MacInnes.
Ryan Hofer would give the Silvertips back the lead 1:41 into the third, as the reunion of the Triple-H line paid dividends for the Tips. A Niko Huuhtanen hit thrown in the offensive zone led to a Ben Hemmerling takeaway, which prompted a setup of Hofer in the slot for a wrist-shot strike. Later in the second, Hemmerling and Huuhtanen would collect assists on a second Hofer goal at 16:44.
The Tips would pull away in the third, as Alex Swetlikoff netted a powerplay goal early in the final frame for a 4-1 lead. Jackson Berezowski would pot his second of the game and 28th of the season midway through the frame, followed in short order by a Niko Huuhtanen rebound tally.
Koen MacInnes would turn aside 15 shots for his 12th victory of the season, a 6-1 triumph for the Silvertips.
Berezowski extended his point streak to 12 games, over the course of which he has 12 goals and seven assists.
Everett will complete their three-game weekend on home ice Sunday afternoon against the Seattle Thunderbirds. The Silvertips are proud to host Local Heroes Night during the game, paying tribute to local first responders. Puck drop is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. Tickets are available.
