Sacramento River Cats News Release

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - Left fielder Chris Shaw crushed two home runs to help the Sacramento River Cats (34-43) snap a season-long eight-game losing skid with a 9-4 win over the Albuquerque Isotopes (38-38).

For Shaw, they were his 13th and 14th home runs of the season. They also accounted for half of the team's total homers on a powerful Monday evening in Albuquerque. Right fielder Mac Williamson, playing in his first game back with the River Cats since being optioned by the San Francisco Giants, got things going with a solo home run in the second inning. Then in the fifth, third baseman Ryder Jones's seventh of the season tied the game at four.

Right-hander Casey Kelly worked around nine hits and two walks to allow four runs over six innings. He was followed by three scoreless frames from the bullpen featuring just one baserunner and three strikeouts.

Giants right-hander Jeff Samardzija (0-1, 2.57) will be making his third, and likely final rehab start with the River Cats before he rejoins the major-league rotation. Albuquerque will send lefty Brett Oberholtzer (3-5, 5.86) to the hill. First pitch is set for 5:35 p.m. (PT). Additional Notes

- With four home runs on Monday night, the River Cats broke a streak of four consecutive games without hitting one out, ending their longest drought of the season. It also tied their season-high for homers in a game, which had previously been done on April 26 at home against Reno.

- Monday was the first time the club had recorded at least 15 hits in a game since May 29 when they tallied 16 against these same Isotopes in an 8-1 win at home.
