
Walker's Home Run Not Enough Monday Night

Reno, Nev. - In game one of a four-game series against the Salt Lake Bees, the Reno Aces lost by the score of 9-6. The Aces scored six runs on 13 hits. Offensively, the aces were led by Yasmany Tomas who went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a triple. Starting pitcher Jake Buchanan picked up the no-decision. Buchanan went 6.1 innings allowing five runs on eight hits. LHP Jared Miller was tagged with the loss, going 1.1 innings, allowing three runs on five hits. The loss moves the Aces to a record of 34-43 on the season, 12.5 games back of first place.
The Aces jumped into the scoring column early in tonight's ballgame with a Yasmany Tomas infield single in the 2nd inning to score Cesar Puello giving the Aces the 1-0 advantage. An inning later, Christian Walker hit a towering home run over the scoreboard doubling the Aces lead to 2-0. The Bees would answer back with a three-run fourth inning from a pair of RBI singles Jabari Blash and Rymer Liriano giving Salt Lake a 3-2 lead. In the bottom of the inning, the Aces would go back on top with help from Juniel Querecuto's RBI double scoring Tomas. Later in the inning, Rey Fuentes and Walker would single in Querecuto and Ildemaro Vargas building the Aces lead to 6-3. Salt Lake would once again battle back and regain the lead scoring six times in the final four frames giving them the 9-6 victory.

June Boom: Christian Walker hit his seventh home run in the month of June when he belted a homer in the third inning off of right-handed pitcher Osmer Morales. Walker has also hit five home runs in his last ten games against Iowa, Omaha, and Las Vegas. Last season Walker hit seven-plus home runs in a month three times, April (7), May (8), August (7).
Speed Kills: Yasmany Tomas hit his seventh career triple tonight. Tomas has five triples in the big leagues and two in Triple-A. All seven of Tomas's triples have come while in the Diamondbacks organization.
