Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
ROUND ROCK, TX - Round Rock scored all the runs they would need in the 4th inning, and the Express edged the Storm Chasers 3-2 on Tuesday night at the Dell Diamond.
After 3 scoreless innings, Round Rock broke through with 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th against Jake Kalish . Scott Heineman walked, Andy Ibanez singled, and Willie Calhoun drove them both home with a 1-out double. Further singles by Cliff Pennington and Hunter Cole knocked in Calhoun for a 3-0 Round Rock lead.
Kalish (L, 2-2) worked 4 innings for the Storm Chasers, allowing 3 runs, 5 hits, and 1 walk. He struck out 4.
Ramon Torres quickly pulled a run back for Omaha in the top of the 5th, lacing his 1st home run of the season.
The Chasers closed the gap to 3-2 with another tally in the 6th. Billy Burns singled, went to 2nd on a single by Jorge Bonifacio , took 3rd on a double play, and scored on a base hit by Cam Gallagher .
That hit chased Round Rock starter Michael Roth (W, 3-1). He was charged with 2 runs on 5 hits in 5.2 innings, with 2 strikeouts and 3 walks.
Josh Staumont pitched 2 scoreless innings for Omaha, and Richard Lovelady worked a scoreless 7th and 8th.
But the Chasers couldn't crack Round Rock's bullpen, as Javy Guerra, Ricardo Rodriguez, and R.J. Alvarez (S, 14) combined to keep Omaha off the board and give Round Rock their 2nd successive win in the series.
The Storm Chasers (35-41) will continue the series in Round Rock tomorrow night at 7:05. Omaha will send RHP Glenn Sparkman (4-0, 3.89) to the mound, while the Express will counter with RHP Adrian Sampson (3-3, 6.00) to the mound.
