SeaWolves Comeback to Beat Mets

The SeaWolves came from behind to take down the Mets in the second game of the four game set, a 5-4 final

The Mets opened the scoring in game two with a big four run third inning off of Erie starter Tommy Collier. Eudy Pina doubled with two outs to keep the inning alive and was brought home on a Gavin Cecchini single. L.J. Mazzilli singled and moved Cecchini over to third and left runners on the corners still with two out. Michael Conforto followed up with a single of his own, which brought home Cecchini. Brock Peterson doubled home Conforto making it 4-1.

Erie cut the deficit to three in the third when Drew Longley blasted a solo home run to left making it 4-1.

The 'Wolves made it a one-run game in the last of the sixth. Wynton Bernard led off with a single and scored on an Alberto Gonzalez double making it 4-2. Gonzalez scored on a Jason Krizan knock to make it 4-3.

Erie continued its comeback in the bottom of the eighth against Mets reliever Matt Koch. Bernard led off the inning with a walk and moved into scoring position on a Gonzalez knock. A Jeff McVaney infield single loaded the bases for Krizan. Krizan laced a two-run double to left-center, giving Erie its first lead of the night at 5-4.

Paul Voelker worked a scoreless ninth inning and struck out Cecchini with runners on the corners, earning his first Double-A save.

Drew VerHagen (2-0) earned the win in relief allowing one hit with no walks and a strikeout in 1.1 innings of work.

Collier took the no-decision allowing four runs on eight hits with no walks and five strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work.
