No Extra Innings, No Victory for Thunder

Altoona starter Steven Brault fired seven shutout innings and held the Thunder to just one hit as the Curve defeated the Thunder 2-0 on Wednesday night at ARM & HAMMER Park.

Brault retired the first 12 batters in order before Gary Sanchez doubled to left for the Thunder. However, Sanchez was stranded at second as Brault retired the next nine batters to finish his outing. Brault struck out five and allowed only Sanchez's double on Wednesday night.

Matt Tracy made his first start of the season for the Thunder and allowed only one unearned run despite surrendering nine baserunners in five innings on the mound. Johnny Barbato and Andury Acevedo combined to allow just two hits over the final four innings, however, Barbato allowed a solo home run to Stetson Allie in the top of the sixth inning to take a 2-0 advantage for the Curve.

Altoona scored the game's first run when Edward Salcedo reached second base on an error by Thunder 2B Tony Renda. Eric Wood followed with a run-scoring single up the middle to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the third.

The Thunder got a one-out double from Jose Rosario in the bottom of the ninth inning, but, Altoona closer John Kuchno got Jake Cave to groundout to second and struck out Cito Culver to end the game.

Wednesday night was the third time this season that the Thunder recorded just two hits in the game, matching a season-low.
