RubberDucks Beat Bowie 6-2

The Akron RubberDucks use timely hitting and come from behind late in the game to beat the Bowie Baysox 6-2 Wednesday night at Canal Park.

Turning Point

After tying the ball game up at two apiece in the sixth inning, Bryson Myles hit a triple into the right field corner that was just out of reach of a diving Brandon Snyder to start the seventh inning. Jeremy Lucas came to the plate and drove a ball into left field to score the go-ahead run.

Mound Presence

Ryan Merritt got the nod for the RubberDucks. After a tough start, Merritt found his rhythm following the second inning. Merritt gave up two runs on seven hits in the first two innings. The next four innings, Merritt calmed down, allowing only three hits and finished with three strikeouts. The bullpen pitched three more scoreless innings, Joe Colon pitched two innings with a strikeout and Enosil Tejeda gave up two hits before closing out the game.

Duck Tales

Ryan Rohlinger connected on a 0-1 pitch and hit his first home run with Akron to cut the Bowie lead to 2-1. In the sixth inning the RubberDucks offense found a spark and tied the game up at two. Joe Sever and Yandy Diaz hit back-to-back singles, two batters later Destin Hood singled allowing Sever to score and knot up the game. Myles added two insurance runs for the RubberDucks in the eighth extending their lead to 6-2.

Notes

Anthony Gallas, Todd Hankins, Yandy Diaz, Josh Martin and Jeff Johnson have all been chosen to participate in the 2015 Eastern League All-Star game. Gallas will play in his second minor league all-star game while the other four guys will be playing in their first. Ronny Rodriguez went 0-for-4 ending his eight-game hitting streak...Time of game was: 2:29 ...Attendance: 3,219.
